Native American of Salish ancestry; his mother, Panamanian of Mayan ancestry), Shawn has embraced his culture, past and present with an eye to the future.
. The strength of his music and beauty of his words was enhanced by producer John Avila, the talented bassist/producer of Oingo Boingo.
Final polishing was added by the skillful mastering techniques of Ron McMaster (Capitol Records).
Due to their popularity, these songs are featured on the new full-length CD, SHAWN MICHAEL PERRY & ONLY THE BRAVE. Together with his band, Only the Brave, Shawn is on the road, spreading his message.
With the continued sucess of 'Forever', Shawn Michael Perry has released an exclusive music video to accompany the track. Produced and directed by Shawn, this video is beautifully crafted, showing the trials and tribulations of both love for close ones and also, his indigenous heritage through powerful images.
With the video having been out a month, interest is gaining from both fans and the music industries alike.
'Forever' is currently being submitted to MTV U.K, who have expressed an interest, as well as 'The Sundance Film Festival' who asked Shawn to perform and show this video, which is a great accomplishment. Great American Country Television have also expressed an interest for airing the video.

This cd was AWESOME! I would recomend everyone to get this cd! I loved this cd from begining to end. Shawn Michael Perry is a person to look to go far in the music industry! So if you don't have it yet I highly recomend you get it now!

Unique and original musically, the vocals are strong and clear. Shawn has a great vocal range and he uses it beautifully. The more I listen to this cd the more I appreciate it. The only suggestion I have is that I would like to see the artists incorporate more of their cultural language(s)into their songs. English and Spanish are not indigenious to this hemisphere although most people don't even realize this, or chose not to. We have lost so many of our languages and if we write them into our lyrics it will keep them alive, and educate those who listen. I look forward to Shawns future work.

I haven't even heard all the songs yet and I'm head over heels in love with this music. You can hear these guys mean what they're playing/singing, something that is rarely found in the popular music of today. The lyrics actually mean something which makes the music so much more interesting.

Recording artist and film actor, Shawn Michael Perry formed the band, ONLY THE BRAVE. Drawing upon his Indigenous background of North and South American Indian, Shawn and ONLY THE BRAVE merge their favorite musical styles and influences, creating a truly dynamic sound and performance experience. Over the years, Shawn and ONLY THE BRAVE have opened for artists such as the JEFF HEALY GROUP, RANDY BACHMAN, (Bachman-Turner Over-Drive) BARE NAKED LADIES and MARY YOUNGBLOOD (2003 Grammy winner), among others.
Shawn is not your average musician. He is a seasoned performer who has made his mark in film, radio, television and stage. His performance experience is vast, ranging from stage work with the LA-based Roby Theater's production of "Ghost Dance" to appearances in feature films such as "The Last of the Mohicans", "My Indian Summer" and television's "Murder She Wrote". Recently, Shawn appeared and consulted for "The Slaughter Rule", an independent feature, filmed in his home state of Montana. This film is quickly gaining acclaim since it premiered at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival and is now showing in theaters in the U.S. His latest film appearance is in the Disney feature film "Hidalgo", starring Viggo Mortensen (Lord of the Rings).
In February, 2003 Shawn joined forces with veteran rocker, producer and bassist John Avila to produce his latest CD, Run 2 U. The CD was recorded at Avila's studio, Brando's Paradise in San Gabriel, CA. Avila is internationally known for his eleven year run and groundbreaking work as Oingo Boingo's bassist/producer and for his two-year stint as the house bassist on FOX Network's "Culture Clash" television series.
Run 2 U is an epic journey of songs. It was created with internationally known, seasoned musicians. Bassist Louie Ruiz (of el Chicano), drummer Jerry Angel, (Carol King, Dwight Yokham, and Australia's Divinyls); guitarist Rene Reyes (Act of Faith). Shawn's songwriting and stunning vocal ability defines and redefines the classic rock genre. The title track, Run 2 U and two others from the CD, If I and Freedom have already made their global debut as the featured soundtrack music on Marlboro Classic Clothing's Fall/Winter 2003-04 campaign film. Shawn also appears in the film. Marlboro Classic Clothing is a European based high-end clothing line affiliated with Marzotti International.
